Tsukuba City is called the “Bread City” because there are many bakeries.
The “Tsukuba Bread Festival” was held at the Center Plaza on May 25th and May 26th, so we went there.
The festival featured 21 bakeries, 5 coffee shops, 7 food trucks, 6 food stalls, 6 workshops and one kids’ booth. Some shops only participated for one day, though.
I thought that the Tsukuba Bread Festival was an event where bakeries from Tsukuba City gathered, but it was an event where bakeries from outside Tsukuba City also participated.
For example, “Tokyo Bagel Bagel'' is a bakery in Edogawa Ward, Tokyo.
In addition, “Setagaya Bread Market” is a bakery that opened in Setagaya Ward in 2014, but moved to Bando City, Ibaraki Prefecture in 2020. Currently, the bakery only has a workshop, sells breads through an online shop, and has a stall at events.
In other words, at this bread festival, you can eat bread that you cannot normally purchase at bakeries in Tsukuba City.
That's why the Tsukuba Bread Festival was crowded with people, and there were long lines in front of the bakeries.
Most of the photos Dad took ended up being photos of people lining up to purchase.

⑬ As we approach the parking lot, the crowd becomes sparse. This is the most comfortable place.
