In Tsukuba, where I live, every year before Christmas in December, about 5,000 lanterns made by elementary and junior high school students are exhibited.

In 2022, “Lantern Art 2022” was held on December 17th (Sat) and 18th (Sun) at Tsukuba Center Square and the surrounding pedestrian decks for the first time in three years. Three years after suspending the event due to the influence of the coronavirus, it has resumed.

The Merci family has never been to see the lantern art.
It's very cold in December and I'm extremely sensitive to the cold. Though I want to see the lantern art, I don't want to stay in a cold venue for a long time.

So, on the 17th, the first day, Dad went to check out the highlights and photo spots, and on the 18th, the second day, the whole Merci family decided to see the lantern art.

On the 18th, however, when we went there, there was not a single lantern. We later found out that the lantern art was canceled on the 18th due to fierce winds.

Thus, Dad couldn't take photos of me looking at the lanterns.

③ Each lantern has a picture drawn by a child.

④ This stuffed sheep is a model for the photo shoot. On the second day, Dad was going to take a picture of me as the model instead of this sheep.

⑤We visited the venue on the second day. There were no lanterns. So, after watching the illumination, we went home.
