Hello, my name is Merci. I'm a female Chihuahua. I'm small, so I look like a cat when seen from behind. In fact, my Dad's mother, who already died, mistook me for a cat.
By the way, “Mom” and ”Dad” are my human owners. I came to this house when I was little, so I don't really know about my real dog mom and dad. However, there is a record of pedigree (the record of descent of an animal, showing it to be pure-bred), so if you look at it, you can tell who my dog's mom and dad were. I can't read the pedigree, but I've heard that my ancestors lived in the United States and the father of my great-great-great-grandfather came to Japan. I'm called “Chihuahua“, so it seems that my ancient ancestors were in Chihuahua State, Mexico, but I'm not sure. Well, in modern terms, I'm a remote descendant of immigrants to Japan.
A long time ago, a great writer named Natsume Soseki published a "cat book" titled “I am a cat” and it became a bestseller, so I would be happy if you read my diary, too.
Oh, by the way, I think many people know about "I am a cat", but Natsume Soseki wrote many other books, including a book called "Sanshiro". It is famous. I think more people like it than "I am a cat". But what is not well known is that the main character, Sanshiro, says, "I have only seen five or six Westerners since I was born." It's amazing! Therefore, if Sanshiro meets me, he will be very impressed, saying, "Oh, it's a Western dog!"
My name is Merci, but I’m always called "Meru-chan". A poorly behaved dog might be scolded by its owner and called by its name. But I've never been scolded because I'm well-behaved and smart. Therefore, when I am called, I am always called "Meru-chan".
I will put pictures of "Meru-chan" in this diary as well.
Nice to meet you, my name is Merci.
Greetings with three fingers. (It’s a very polite bow.)
