A highway hotel is a lodging facility attached to an expressway service area (SA) and parking area (PA).
As of January 2023, there are seven highway hotels in the SA and the PA. The dates below are the opening dates.

This time, we stayed at "E-NEXCO LODGE Sano SA (Family Lodge Hatagoya Sano SA)"near Ashikaga Flower Park. NEXCO stands for Expressway Corporation.
Highway hotels are usually used from SA or PA on one side, either inbound or outbound line. Dannoura PA and Sano SA are exceptions and can be accessed from both the inbound and outbound line. It would be convenient if it can be accessed from both sides, but that would be complicated.
Sano SA has a smart IC, and you can use it for a one-way trip up or down, but you can't use it for a round trip.
There is also a dog run next to "E-NEXCO LODGE Sano SA".
Family Lodge Hatagoya is a chain lodging facility, and the two rooms at the end are open for dogs, so we sometimes use them.
The room at this highway hotel is made in the same way as any other ordinary family lodge Hatagoya.
There is a SA shop and a dog run next to the highway hotel, so it is convenient, but the rooms and facilities don’t look much different from other Hatagoya locations.
