(199) My collar is missing

文字数 5,028文字

At the end of August, we went on an overnight trip to Nasu for the first time in a while.

The biggest event of this trip was the lost collar incident, so I’ll mainly talk about it.

“My collar is missing" is a dull title, so I'd rather call it "my lost necklace incident."

In 1785, on the eve of the Revolution, a fraudulent necklace incident occurred in France. Jeweler Charles Boehmer had made a 1.6 million livre necklace consisting of 540 large and small diamonds on the order of the late King Louis XV. He attempted to resell the necklace, which had become unsold after the late King passed away, to Marie Antoinette. That's how it all started. The fraud case turned into a conspiracy, and became the subject of many works such as The Three Musketeers, Lupin, Rose of Versailles, and some Disney movies.

Marie Antoinette can live without a collar, while I can't put on a leash without a collar.

This time, like a detective story, we evoke memories as we follow our footsteps.

7:00 I take off the leash at the hotel dog run and take a morning walk.

8:00 I have yogurt at the hotel restaurant in a cart, next to Mom and Dad's table. Instead of a leash, the cart has a string and a hook to hold a dog’s collar so that it doesn’t jump out, and I use the hook during breakfast.

① 8:00 The collar is fastened to the cart hook.

8:30 We return to our hotel room and load up our car.

② 8:30 I’m helping Mom and Dad load the car.

9:00 We finish loading our luggage, so Dad returns the key to the front desk. We leave for Minamigaoka Ranch by car.

9:25 We arrive at Minamigaoka Ranch. It's starting to rain, so Mom decides to use the dog carrier instead of a leash. Riding in Mama's dog carrier, I start the tour of Minamigaoka Ranch.

③ 9:25 This is the front gate of Minamigaoka Ranch.

9:35 We arrive at Milk Tea House. What we're looking for is a soft-serve ice cream that doesn't contain sugar and that dogs can eat. Oh, soft-serve ice cream for dogs is not on the menu of the automatic ticket machine. When Dad asks the salesperson, he says that the soft-serve ice cream for dogs is out of stock and they're not selling it today. I'm disappointed.

9:40 We take a walk around the ranch with me in the dog carrier. It's raining. We find a face-hole board with a picture of a sheep and a cow, so I have Dad take a commemorative photo here.

④ 9:40 This is the commemorative photo.

9:45 We continue walking around Minamigaoka Farm and come to a pasture. The ground is not too wet from the rain.

⑤9:45 Minamigaoka ranch is wide, isn't it? The cows look small.

9:50: We go around and come back to the milk tea house. There is a bench here. Since the rain has stopped, Mom decides to take off the dog carrier at the bench, replace it with a leash, and make me take a walk on my own feet.

Mama unhooks me, making sure I don't fall.

Now that the dog carrier has come off, it's my turn to put on the leash and get down on the ground for a walk.

All of a sudden, Mom screams, "Meru-chan doesn't have her collar."

A missing collar incident has occurred.

I can’t see a collar around my neck.

Now I can't go for a walk without my collar.

The tour of the ranch has been canceled. Thus, I only have one photo of Minamigaoka Ranch, Photo 4.

As I’m missing my collar, Dad and I have to go back to the car.

Mom decides to do some shopping at the ranch stand, and I and Daddy wait in the car for her to finish shopping.

⑥ 9:55 I'm waiting in the car for Mom to finish shopping.

10:00: Mom finishes shopping and comes back to the car.

She wonders where she lost my collar. She says, "Yes. After breakfast, when I unhooked the cart from the collar, it may have come off."

Mom calls the hotel.

"Hello, this is Merci family speaking. We stayed at your hotel. I'm looking for my dog's collar because it's gone. Could you check the cart I borrowed at the restaurant to see if the collar fell into it? ”

"What color is the collar?"

"It's black.''

"Well then, I'll look into it, so please wait a moment."

After a while, Mom gets a reply from the hotel staff.

"There is no collar in the cart."

"Really? Thank you, anyway. Sorry to have troubled you."

Mom hangs up the phone.

I can’t go for a walk without a collar, so we have no choice but to head to “Diana Garden Angel Museum”, where you can enjoy the garden if you hold your dog.

Where did I lose my collar?
I expect you to solve the mysterious case as a detective.
Did you solve it?

⑦ This is a picture of a lot of dragonflies at the ranch.

⑧ We arrive at the Diana Garden Angel Museum by car at 10:20.

You can see me in picture 8. My collar is around my neck, hidden between my fluffy fur. In photo 8, only the silver clasp for the hook is visible.

The hair around my neck was so fluffy that Mom thought my collar was missing and panicked. My collar had been around my neck all along.

In this way, my missing collar case was successfully resolved!!
