I heard that the Shibazakura, or, moss phlox were in full bloom in Takasaki Nature Forest (高崎自然の森), so I went to see them.
Takasaki Nature Forest is a forest park managed by Tsukuba City.
The moss phlox there were beautiful, but the area where they were blooming was too small.
One reference about the park said, "The flower garden in the center is full of moss phlox."
Moreover, on the website of Takasaki Nature Forest in Tsukuba City, there was a photo of a field of moss phlox in full bloom.
When I looked closely at the flower garden, there were moss phlox blooming among the weeds, and moss phlox that had been replanted after removing the weeds. The remaining moss phlox, which was not defeated by weeds, had greatly reduced in area compared to the garden’s peak.
Next year, I hope there will be more moss phlox that don’t lose to weeds.
In addition to moss phlox, I also saw weeping cherry blossoms(枝垂れ桜), Kanzan cherry blossoms, and trident maple trees. The trident maple flowers had not yet bloomed, but the fresh green of the new shoots was incredibly beautiful.
This park is a bird-watching spot.
The Oguki and Rokuto districts on the opposite bank of the Inari River are privately-owned land and are not parks, but they have an agreement with the landlord so you can walk through the promenade.
It seems that kingfishers also live along the Inari River.
