文字数 1,427文字

When Dad searched for blooming flowers besides cherry blossoms, he found that Otome Tsubaki (camellia japonica flowers) were blooming in Kasumigaura Comprehensive Park and Hojo Oike, so we went there.

Otome Tsubaki is a pink camellia I introduced in "Chapter 294 Cherry Blossoms at Hannyain Temple".

The Kasumigaura Comprehensive Park website says, "Otome Tsubaki are blooming around the statue of a maiden (乙女の像)."
The “statue of a maiden”, to be exact, is called “Suigo Otome no zou (水郷乙女之像)'' and was installed in March 1987.

Otome Tsubaki are very popular, and besides Kasumigaura General Park and Hojo Oike, most parks, such as Ottonuma Park and Akatsuka Park, have several Otome Tsubaki trees.

⑪ Addition. This is a photo of a statue of maidens in Lake Towada (made by Kotaro Takamura in 1953) taken by Dad. It is believed that the creator of Suigo Otome Statue in Kasumigaura Comprehensible Park used this statue as a reference.
