The winter solstice is the shortest day and longest night of the year. It falls on Dec. 22nd in 2022.
In Japan, the year is divided into four seasons: spring, summer, fall and winter. And each of them is further divided into six called the 24 seasons (二十四節気). The winter solstice is one of the 24 seasons, and in everyday life, it is a term that expresses the season rather than astronomy.
On the winter solstice, it is customary to eat pumpkins and take a yuzu bath to enjoy the season.
Yuzu-yu (柚子湯) refers to a bath in which a yuzu citrus is floating in a bathtub. They say it promotes blood circulation, relieves sensitivity to cold, warms the body to prevent colds, and has citric acid and vitamin C contained in the peel that are effective for beautiful skin.
So, I also tried taking a yuzu bath.
① I'm in a yuzu bath. Yuzu hot water is warm and has a nice fragrance.
② Yuzu is moving around in the bath. I'm curious about its movements.
③I'm striking a pose. I’m wondering if my skin got more beautiful.
