Kairakuen Park is officially called "a large-scale park around Lake Senba”. They are developing a large-scale park centering on Kairakuen and Senba Park, including the surrounding green areas.

Kairakuen is a park that was landscaped by Tokugawa Nariaki, the 9th feudal lord of the Mito Domain, in 1842. It is also included in the Three Great Gardens of Japan and is a well-known park.

Kairakuen Park is not well known, but it covers 300 hectares and is the second largest city park in the world after Central Park in New York City. It is the size of 27,000,000 sheets of my favorite fluffy mat (9 sheets is 1 square meter).

Dogs are not allowed in Kairakuen. But dogs are allowed in Kairakuen Park.

March is the plum season, and at Kairakuen, a nighttime event called TeamLab Kairakuen Light Festival was held as part of the plum festival. We went to Kairakuen Park during the plum festival season to watch the lights up.




At Tomobe SA on the way, I'm taking a walk. The Nemophila are beautiful.


I'm walking in the plum grove of Kairakuen Park.


Fritillaria verticillae is blooming in Kairakuen Park. It can also be used as a Chinese herbal medicine.
