In chapter 318, I introduced Tsuchiura City's designed manhole covers.

Recently, I noticed that there are several manhole covers with a Yowamushi Pedal design in Tsukuba City, where I live, so I’d like to introduce them to you. I’ll also introduce the Tsukuba City Share Cycle Demonstration Project “Tsukuchari” and the Kasumigaura City “Exchange Center”, which is a dining and resting spot on the Ring Ring Road.

“Yowamushi Pedal” is a sports manga about a cycling event written by Watanabe Wataru. It has also been made into an anime and a live-action movie.

Originally, “yowamushi pedal” means a way of riding in which you use a light gear to increase the revs and spin the bike around and around.

In July 2021, Tsukuba City signed an "Agreement on Cooperation to Promote Bicycle Use" with the "Yowamushi Pedal Cycling Team," which is supervised by Watanabe Wataru and has an activity base in Tsukuba.

As part of the agreement, the special design manhole covers are scheduled to be installed for 10 years, starting December 23, 2022.
Installation locations: 5 locations (7 covers installed)
・In front of Tsukuba Express “Tsukuba Station”
・In front of Tsukuba Express “Kenkyugakuen Station”
・In front of Tsukuba Express "Banpaku Kinen Koen Station"
・In front of Tsukuba Express "Midori no Station"
・Tsukuba City Hall main building 1st floor lobby (3 covers installed)
Two of the manhole covers in the city hall are scheduled to be relocated to Tsukubasan Gate Park (which used to be Tsukuba Higashi Junior High School), which is currently under construction. A geopark base and a bicycle base with a BMX (Bicycle Motocross) course will be built in Tsukubasan Gate Park.

⑪ Kasumigaura City Exchange Center is a dining and resting spot on Ring Ring Road.

⑫ I’m taking a walk in Ayumizaki Park, where the exchange center is located. Next door is Lake Kasumigaura.

⑬ I’m sitting on the terrace of Kasumi Marche in the community center.

⑭ I’m waiting for lunch.

⑮ I’m looking at Mom, who has brought me lunch.

⑯ P.S. This is a tricycle called "Ruder Trike S'' that you can pedal with your feet and row with your hands. I saw it at Kasumigaura General Park. It has a sidecar, so there are four wheels in all.

⑰ P.S. It looks like the dog will ride in the sidecar. They may be on their way around Lake Kasumigaura on Ring Ring Road.
