It's summer festival season. The summer festival in Tsukuba, where I live, will be held in August 26 and 27.

Before that, we went to two summer festivals in Tsuchiura City on July 21st and August 5th.

From July 21st to July 23rd, “the Yasaka Shrine Gion Festival” was held, and Mikoshi (portable shrines) and Dashi (festive floats) were displayed.

The “Tsuchiura Kirara Festival” was held on August 5th and 6th.
“URALA”, located in front of Tsuchiura Station, opened in 1997 as a commercial complex centered on Ito-Yokado, but since 2015 it has become Tsuchiura City Hall and the Kasumi supermarket.
The main venue of the festival is URALA Oyane Hiroba (URALA big-Roof Plaza).

Ekimae-dori, which has become a pedestrian zone, connects the square and the sub-venue.
In Tsuchiura City, the "Tsuchiura Tanabata Star Festival" has been held since 1951, but in 1990, the "Tsuchiura Tanabata Festival" and the "Lake Kasumigaura Festival" were merged and renewed to become the Tsuchiura Kirara Festival.

After the Tsuchiura Kirara Festival was established, floats began to appear, just like the Yasaka Shrine Gion Festival. But Tanabata decorations, which were previously said to be the best in the Kanto region have been decreasing so as not to interfere with the floats.
