We heard the hydrangeas of Amabiki Kannon were beautiful, so we went there.

Mt. Tsukuba is part of the Tsukuba mountain range which includes Mt. Takara, Mt.Tsukuba, Mt. Ashio and Mt. Kaba.

The Tsukuba mountain range faces Sakuragawa City on the north side and Tsukuba City on the south side.

Amebiki Kannon is located in Sakuragawa City, on the north side of Mt. Kaba and at the northern end of the Tsukuba mountain range.

Amebiki Kannon is also known as “Amabikisanrakuhoji (雨引山楽法寺)”, and is an old temple that is said to have been opened in 587 by a guardian named Hourin-dokushu-koji who was naturalized from China.

There are 5,000 hydrangeas of 100 types here, and the Hydrangea Festival is held in the precincts from June 10th to July 20th every year.

Amabiki Kannon is an old temple, so I'm sure there must be other treasures besides hydrangeas, but I'll talk about that next time, and this time, let me introduce the hydrangeas.

These are hydrangeas beside the gate named “Niomon” at the entrance.

These are the light blue hydrangeas near the bell tower.

This is a photo of pink hydrangeas and me. This hydrangea is a variety called Hakuju Beni (白寿紅), which is white at first, gradually turns red, and finally turns bright red. These are somewhere between white and red today.

This is a photo of purple hydrangeas and me.
