Do you know about the crape myrtle tree? It is written as ”百日紅'' and read as ”Sarusuberi''.
The Chinese character "百日紅" means that the red flowers will continue to bloom for a hundred days.
On the other hand, “Sarusuberi” means that the surface of its trunk is so smooth that even monkeys fall from the tree.
Combining these two, we have come to write “百日紅” and read it as ”sarusuberi''.
Crape myrtle trees have a long flowering period, so they are often planted in parks. They are beautiful, but even monkeys cannot climb these trees, so it is much more difficult for dogs to climb.
These days, you can find a lot of weird pictures on Instagram, but it's hard to imagine a picture of a happy dog climbing a crape myrtle tree.
During the Girls’ Festival, I had my pictures taken with some peach blossoms Mom bought at the flower shop.
Similarly, some dogs may have had their picture taken with crape myrtle flowers that their owners bought at a flower shop.
Crape myrtle is a very long-lasting flower that continues to bloom for 100 days on the tree. However, once the branches are cut and used as cut flowers, crape myrtle flowers won’t last long. Therefore, flower shops don't sell them.
For this reason, there aren’t many photos of dogs with cut crape myrtle flowers.
When Dad and I were talking about the flowers, it seemed like he was about to say, "I'm going to take some pictures, Meru-chan, please climb the crape myrtle tree." I’m getting anxious because I hate high places.
For those of you who read my diary, please don't think about letting your dog climb a crape myrtle tree and taking a photo to post it on Instagram.
Some crape myrtle trees are also in the children's park where we take a walk. When we looked closely the other day, two of the flowers were blooming 10 cm from the ground.
As you have already noticed, if a dog can have its picture taken in front of a "crape myrtle flower 10 cm above the ground", there is no need for a dog to climb the tree.
The next day, we went to the children's park, and Dad took photos of me in front of the crape myrtle, 10 cm above the ground. When we got home and looked at them, the photos were all out of focus, except for one photo in which I was in focus. At the edge of the photo, a pink flower was blurred.
Crape myrtle blooms for 100 days. It doesn't seem like it will wither any time soon.
So, the next evening, when it wasn't too hot and I didn't have to hang my tongue out, we went to the children's park again. To our surprise, however, the crape myrtle, 10 cm above the ground, had disappeared.
Dad remembered that when he drove past the children's park in the middle of the day, he heard the sound of mowing. When we looked closely, the lawn area was beautifully cut. It seems that the person who mowed the grass decided that crape myrtle flowers 10 cm above the ground were also weeds and cut them!!
