Next to the park we often walk in, there is an aquatic botanical garden, and we can walk there from the park.

This garden is called a “flood control pond” and is a place to store water during heavy rains.
After heavy rain, the aquatic botanical garden can be flooded. Therefore, aquatic plants that do not die even when flooded are selected to be grown there.
Hanashobu (Acorus calamus) is planted on the land and water lilies are planted in the pond.
Officially, there are about 800 varieties and 100,000 Hanashobu growing on the site, which is about 1.4ha (3.459 acres).

Excluding Itako(潮来), the number of Shoubu(Acorus calamus), Ayame(Iris sanguinea), and Kakitsubata(Iris laevigata) here is one of the largest in Ibaraki prefecture.
Now, I would like to introduce Hanashobu.
The aquatic botanical garden is not very comfortable because there are many puddles after the rain, so I didn't like the garden very much.
However, when we went there after the fine weather continued, there were no puddles at all. The stepping stones, which are part of the promenade, which I am not good at walking on, were also dry, and I was able to cross to the opposite bank. In addition, the Hanashobu field was dry and very pleasant, so I was able to walk in a good mood.
