This time, I’d like to introduce the American sweetgums (Liquidambar styraciflua, モミジバフウ) in Matsushiro Park. I liked the fallen leaves of the American sweetgums and played with them a lot.
American sweetgums have been planted in Matsushiro Park and the adjacent Ushiku Gakuen Street (National Route 408).
2,146 American sweetgums were planted along a 7km stretch of Ushiku Gakuen Street, but half of them were thinned out in 2021, and the current number is about 1,070.
