文字数 1,611文字

In this chapter, I’ll talk about the steam locomotive that is on display in front of Hitachidaigo (常陸大子) Station on the Suigun Line(水郡線).

This steam locomotive doesn’t work, but steam locomotives were used on the Suigun Line until 1969, and they have continued to run occasionally since then.

Most recently, the steam locomotive on "Okukuji Seiryu Line(奥久慈清流ライン号)" was operated in 2012 and 2014. In 2012, steam locomotive C11 was used, and in 2014, steam locomotive C61 was used.

December 7, 2014 was the last day of the steam locomotive on Okukuji Seiryu Line, and it hasn’t been in operation since then.

The C12 steam locomotive in front of Hitachidaigo Station is C12187.

C12187 was manufactured in 1938 and ran in Kyushu for about 30 years. In July 1967, it was moved from Kyushu to the Mito engine depot, where the Suigun Line is located. It stopped running in March 1969.
