In Tsukuba City, there is one of the world's largest Botan (牡丹 peony) Gardens, where 550 species of Botan (牡丹 peony) and 215 species of Shakuyaku (芍薬 Chinese peony) are cultivated in a 20ha (0,077 square miles) garden. The total number of peonies exceeds 50,000.
Fortunately, if you tie a leash to a dog, dogs can also enter.
I heard that the Botan flowers have bloomed, so I went there with Mom and Dad.
From ancient times, there is a saying that “a beautiful woman is likened to a Chinese peony when standing, a peony when sitting, and a lily flower when walking”.(立てばシャクヤク、座れば牡丹、歩く姿は百合の花）.
There are two theories about the origin of this saying.
The first is that it appeared in the comics and fashionable books of the Edo period as a metaphor for a beautiful woman, so it is said that the storytelling or rakugo (traditional Japanese comic storytelling) at that time were its origin.
The second is a theory of how to use Chinese herbal medicine.
"Standing Chinese Peony": Chinese Peonies are effective for women who are standing (irritated and frustrated).
"Peony if you sit down": For women who are sitting all the time and have poor blood circulation, the peony root skin is effective.
"a lily when walking": Lily bulbs are effective for women with psychosomatic disorders who are walking weakly without power.
The second theory is not romantic.
Recently, as I get older, I often sit on the grass and take a rest during my walks. Peony root may be effective for me, but I’m wondering if it's okay for dogs to eat it.
I went to Tsukuba Botan Garden to see peony flowers instead of getting treatment. The peonies (牡丹) are in full bloom, and the Chinese peonies (シャクヤク) are about to bloom.
It was warm, but not hot, so to my relief, my tongue didn't have to be as out as it was at Shibazakura Park.
