Tsukuba City has a botanical garden.
Dogs are not allowed in the botanical garden, so I’ve never been there.
In May 2023, for the first time in three years, two "Titan arum" flowers bloomed there.
※The Japanese name of "Titan arum" is "Shokudai oo konnyaku (燭台大蒟蒻)", and the scientific name is "Amorphophallus titanum".
The Titan arum flower has a record diameter of 1.5m and height of 3.1m (registered in the Guinness Book of World Records), making it the world's largest flower.
Rafflesia is famous as a flower with a diameter of over 1m.
The Titan arum flower, on the other hand, is an aggregate flower with many flowers gathered like a dandelion.
As a single flower, Rafflesia is the largest, but as an aggregate flower, Titan arum is the largest in the world. The flowering period is only 3 days.

It's an exceedingly rare flower, so I'd like to explain it.

The one in front is a large stock and the one in the back is a small stock.
