Miyayama Furusato Fureai Park, next to the sunflower field in Chikusei City, has Akeno Agri Shop, Kannon Soba restaurant, Abe no Seimei Exhibition Hall, Miyayama Ishikura Ruins, Miyayama Kannon Hall, and Miyayama Kannon Kofun (ancient tombs).

"Abe no Seimei (安倍晴明 921-1005)" was an "Onmyoji (陰陽師)" in the Heian period who wielded political power by making full use of divination based on the "Yin-Yang Five Elements (陰陽五行)" and "magic (呪術)".

He is the protagonist of the novel "Onmyoji" (written by Yumemakura Baku, 1986), which has been developed into the following media: Manga "Onmyoji" (Reiko Okano, 2003), TV drama "Onmyoji" (MHK, 2001, TV Asahi, 2015, 2020), Movie "Onmyoji" (2001), Movie "Onmyoji II" (2003), Chinese movie "Onmyoji: Eternal Dream" (2021), Play "Onmyoji" (2000), "Onmyoji Kotodama no Maki" (2002), "Onmyoji: Born Princess" (2022), Musical "Dark Prince" Minamoto Hiromasa and Abe no Seimei” (2001), “New Prince of Darkness” (2003), “Onmyoji Prince of Darkness ✡ Abe no Seimei” (2022), Kabuki “New Onmyoji Princess Takiyasha” (2013).

The theme song "SEIMEI" from the movie "Onmyoji" was used by a men's figure skater Hanyu Yuzuru at the Pyeongchang Olympics, where he won the gold medal.

The details of Abe no Seimei's life are unknown, and there are many legends about his birth. "Seimei Biography「晴明伝記」'' and "Hokisho「簠簋抄(ほきしょう」" claim that Nekojima in Chikusei City is Seimei's birthplace. And his birthplace is now ”Seimeibashi Park”.

I felt like an onmyoji and took a walk through the historic site of Abe no Seimei in Miyayama Furusato Fureai Park.

① The Abe no Seimei Exhibition Hall came into view. It looks like an entrance to another world.

② I am in front of the hall.

③ At the entrance of the hall, there is a stone monument of a poem written about the time Seimei's mother, the legendary white fox, parted from him. The inscription means "when you miss me, please visit my home, Shinoda no Mori (Shinoda Forests).''

④ In the hall, you can see a feng shui compass, chinowa, hamaya(an arrow), lanterns, and a commemorative face hole board. The three panelists are Taira no Kunika (平国香, military commander), Okada Kansen (岡田寒泉, Confucian scholar), and Abe no Seimei (安倍晴明).
Each of the two lanterns has Seimei's symbol, the five-pointed star (五芒星) called "Seimei Kikyo Seal (晴明桔梗印)."

⑤ I tried using Taira Kunika’s face-hole-board.

⑥ I tried using Taira Kunika’s face-hole-board.

⑦ In front of the chinowa (a cogon grass ring), I put on a Halloween hat and pretended to be an onmyoji. I wonder if there are any onmyojis with such a long tongue!!

⑧ This is a feng shui compass.

⑨ I’ve come out of the memorial hall. It's cooler near the pool.

⑩ I’m resting in the shade by the pool.

⑪ This Japanese dogwood (Cornus kousa) is bearing fruit.

⑫ The park is spacious and I’m in a good mood.

⑬ There is a campsite in the park, which is rich in nature.

⑭ The balloon vine (Cardioapermum halicanabum) was bearing fruit. Now, we’ll look at the old Kannondo in the park.

⑮ This is “Miyayama Kannondo” which was built in 1723 (whose master carpenter was Fujita Magoheiji).

⑯ I had a commemorative photo taken in front of Miyayama Kannon-do. Now, we’ll drive to “Seimei Bashi Park(晴明橋公園)”, the supposed birthplace of Seimei.

⑰ This is a stone monument in “Seimei Bashi Park”. The name of the park comes from the legend that Seimei built a stone bridge over the Kannon River.

⑱ Mt.Tsukuba can be seen clearly.

⑲ I’m taking a good nap at home because I walked a lot.
