Otto Aquatic Botanical Garden has not only water lilies but also Japanese irises. In 2022, in "Chapter 162”, I introduced Hanashoubu(Japanese irises).

Recently, Dad is trying hard to photograph not only water lilies, but also Japanese irises.

In early June, heavy rain flooded Otto Aquatic Botanical Garden, which was built on the flood-control pond. When the water receded in about a week, the Japanese irises were past their peak. On the other hand, the water lily flowers, which should have arrived by then, weren’t blooming at all.

According to some research, water lily flowers open early in the morning and close in the afternoon.

I usually wake up from a nap and go for a walk in the afternoon, when the water lily flowers are already closed. In May (chapter 343), when it wasn't hot yet, water lilies were blooming even in the afternoon though.

Thus, Dad realized that he couldn’t get a photo of me with water lily flowers on a June afternoon walk.

⑤ I'm on the bench.

⑥ The water lily flowers are closed.

⑦ This is a picture that Dad took early in the morning. Water lily flowers are fully blooming.

⑧ Next to the water lilies, there is a butterfly dragonfly.

⑨ I'm resting in the shade of the nearby park.

⑩ There is no shade at all in Otto Aquatic Botanical Garden, so I’m resting in the shade of the nearby park.
