(32) Hiking

It's May. Dad suggested that we go hiking on a sunny day. We decided to climb Mt. Hokyo. Its height (461m) is about half of Mt.Tsukuba (877m). But unlike Mt.Tsukuba, we have to walk up from the foot of the mountain. There are about 7 routes for mountain climbing, but anyway, Dad chose the shortest one that seemed to be easy.

Dad put a dog lead on me and we started walking. From the parking lot to the entrance of the mountain trail, there was nothing blocking the sunlight on the road through the paddy field, so it was very hot. But when we entered the mountain trail, the road was in the woods. It was cool and comfortable since it was in the shade.

I'm not used to steep roads like mountain trails, so at first I sometimes wondered which direction to go. Also, as the mountain trail was a road that climbed along a stream, there were many places where the road crossed the stream. I’m not good at high places and water, so I asked Mom to hold me when we crossed the stream.

Along the way, I saw 5 dogs climbing the mountain. Hiking with dogs hasn't been popular these days, but there were some participants. When I saw a dog on the way, I thought I had to do my best, too.

When I went to the top of the mountain, I was hungry and tired. My face looked like I hadn’t slept enough the day before.

Going down the mountain was easy, and I recovered.

After returning home, Mom and Dad complained that their legs hurt. But Ms. Merci had no aftereffects of the hike. People who are not trained do not have much physical strength.

On the mountain top, Dad took a commemorative photo with an azalea in the background.

I'm begging for a little more lunch.

The descent is comfortable and I have a relaxed look.
