(78) crossing a scary suspension bridge

At Kinugawa Onsen, where the “Bow-wow Hotel'' is located, there is the Kinugawa Otsuribashi, which has a total length of 140 m. However, as I wrote in "Crossing the Suspension Bridge"(Chapter 52), we had crossed a large suspension bridge before, so we didn't cross this one.

We headed to Takimi Park near the “Bow-wow Hotel” for a walk in the morning. Takimi Park was a wonderful park with many sculptures. Next to the park, there was a suspension bridge called Takimi Bridge, so we crossed it.

The "Taki" in Takimi Park and in Takimi Bridge indicates the "Taki”(waterfall) of Yui (Yui no Taki) which is located upstream on the opposite bank of the park. Yui Waterfall flows like a stream and can be easily overlooked.

It seems that only 10 people or so can cross Takimi Bridge at a time. In fact, the bridge shook a lot when only three of us --- Mom, Dad and me --- were walking!

The distance between the railings on the bridge is large, and if I slip, I would fall through the gap.

As there is no lighting at Takimi Bridge, it would be pitch black at night.

Thus, Takimi Bridge is such a scary suspension bridge that you can "test your courage" (肝試し) on summer nights!

This is a suspension bridge seen from Takimi Park.

I'm walking away from the railing.

I’m walking carefully because it sways.
