There are polar bears in our garden.
Oh, the polar bears I’m referring to aren't animals, so they don't attack you in the middle of the night.

“Polar Bear '' is the name of a white bitter gourd, a vegetable.
Mom and Dad grow green bitter gourds every summer to prevent their summer fatigue.

This year, besides the green bitter gourds, Dad planted white bitter gourds named polar bears. In the summer, we were able to harvest our first polar bear, so Dad took some commemorative photos.

A polar bear by itself is lonely, so Dad lined up other vegetables from our garden, such as a green bitter gourd, an eggplant, a cucumber, okras, cherry tomatoes, and grapes (Pione).
Mom and Dad say,” White bitter gourd is less bitter and can be eaten raw.” I wonder if I can taste it later.

It was the first time for Dad to grow polar bears, so he didn't know how big they would grow. When it grew to the size of a green bitter gourd that he usually eats, he harvested it. Later, he found out that this variety grows to about 30cm in length and weighs more than 400g, so the harvest may have been a little too early.

I’m looking at the crops harvested in our garden. To my regret, none of them smell delicious like meat.

I’m smelling the cucumber.

I’m smelling the green bitter gourd.

I'm sniffing the polar bear.

You may ask me if I can tell the difference between a white bitter gourd and a green one by smell.
"Hmm. It's difficult to tell without tasting them."
