(339) We bought some melonpan

In "Chapter 334: I go to Rest Stop Joso", I talked about a story when I went to the newly opened rest stop. The best specialty of the rest stop is "melonpan".

"Melonpan" is a melon-shaped sweet bun with a lattice pattern on the surface, which originated in Japan. Melonpan usually doesn’t contain melon. For example, there is no melon in the “Jumbo Melonpan (ジャンボめろんぱん)” from ”Asakusa Kagetsudo (浅草花月堂)”, a specialty of Asakusa.

The last time we visited the rest stop, though, the line to get melonpan was too long, so Mom gave up. Rest Stop Joso opens at 9:00 a.m. So, this time, Mom decided to line up to buy some melonpan at 9:00 a.m.

The melonpan of "Boku to Melon to Bakery (ぼくとメロンとベーカリー)" in Rest Stop Joso uses rice flour and melon juice.

Besides the conventional plain "Boku no Melonpan(ぼくのメロンパン)", they sell several types of melonpan:“Boku no Cream Melonpan (ぼくのクリームメロンパン)” (with melon cream), “Boku no Custard Melonpan (ぼくのカスタードメロンパン)” (with custard cream), “Imon pan(いもんパン)” (with sweet potato paste), and “Boku no Melon Shokupan (ぼくのメロン食パン)”(loaf of melon bread).

Moreover, they sell plain “Boku no Igai Melonpan (3,000 yen)”, which is the size of 20 regular melonpan. “Boku no Igai Melonpan” is baked at 11 o'clock, so Mom skipped it this time.

① When we arrived at 9 o'clock, there were already about 30 people lined up. Mom lined up, too.

② I’m taking a walk with Dad because it might take a while before Mom finishes buying some melonpan. I'm heading to the playground equipment square that I didn't go to last time.

③ There is an object with a strange shape. This is a structure for climbing.

④ It’s early, so there are no children here. I’m riding on a disk-shaped swing.

⑤ I feel like I'm on a spaceship.

⑥ Now I’m feeling uneasy when the disk shakes.

⑦ It is a mini trampoline for one person. The rubber floor shakes and doesn't settle down.

⑧ Now I’ll introduce some melonpan Mom purchased. This is a classic plain "Boku no Melonpan".

⑨ These are "Boku no Custard Melonpan" (with custard cream) and "Boku no Cream Melonpan" (with melon cream).

⑩ This is “Imon pan” (with sweet potato paste).

⑪ This is “Boku no Melon Shokupan” (a loaf of melon bread). I don't want to get cavities, so this time I skipped eating melonpan. Instead, I was very satisfied with a beef lunch.
