Naena Falls is a waterfall with a drop of 55m over the Seki River, which flows between Myoko Kogen in Niigata Prefecture and Kurohime Kogen in Nagano Prefecture.

It was selected as one of Japan's top 100 waterfalls. It is also called "Earthquake Waterfall" because the roaring sound of falling water sounds like an earthquake.

Naena Falls is located on the outskirts of Kurohime Kogen in Shinanomachi. Its parking lot is in Niigata Prefecture. When you cross the first suspension bridge near the parking lot, and after walking for about 15 minutes on the promenade in Nagano Prefecture, you’ll come to the second suspension bridge directly below Naena Falls. Naena Falls can be seen from the suspension bridge. When you cross the second suspension bridge and go to the Niigata Prefecture side, you will find the rest area.

In fact, there is a promenade leading to 3 other waterfalls beyond the rest area, but it is currently closed to traffic. In other words, the visible Naena Falls is one of four waterfalls here. Big, isn't it?

And the upper stream of Naena Falls is a secret place with few people passing through. It wouldn't be strange if a yeti lived there.

It took 15 minutes on foot from the parking lot to get to Naena Falls, but there were many steep stairs, so Mom held me with a dog carrier. So, this time, I had a good time. Mama looked tired, though.

As you walk along the promenade, Naena Falls comes into view. It's so powerful. We’re heading to the suspension bridge.

This is a photo of me. Naena Falls looks smaller than me and doesn't look impressive.

This is Naena Falls seen from the suspension bridge. You can see the basalt walls with prisms called columnar joints.

This is a picture of me in front of the rest area. Naena Falls is no smaller than me. I'm in a good mood because I’m relaxing in the dog carrier.
