You can splash around in the water at the “Ryu no Seseragi” (龍のせせらぎ, a babbling brook of a dragon) in Ryugasaki City Forest Park, Ibaraki Prefecture.

This park (12ha≒29.6ac) was created to commemorate the 1985 Tsukuba Expo and reused the mushroom-shaped bungalows used at the Expo.

At the Tsukuba Expo in 1985, a cabin village was created near the venue to alleviate the lack of accommodation, and mushroom-shaped bungalows called Space Cabins were installed.
These mushroom-shaped bungalows were donated to interested municipalities after the Expo ended.

The mushroom-shaped bungalows at Yukari no Mori (ゆかりの森) in Toyosato, Tsukuba City, were also reused from the cabin village of Tsukuba Expo.

In 2023, 38 years after the park opened, this park officials publicly solicited proposals for renewal plans for park facilities using the public installation and management system (Park-PFI). Park-PFI is a system that became possible with the revision of the Urban Parks Act in 2017.

On November 30, 2023, the Forest Adventure Group was selected, and construction began on January 29, 2024, making the park off-limits.

On July 13, 2024, “Forest Adventure” opened in part of the park.

In 2025, construction on the rest of the park will be completed, and “Trail Adventure (mountain bike course)”, “GREEN (campsite)”, BBQ area, cafe booth, etc. will be installed.

At Forest Adventure, you can move around and play on the treetops in a natural forest. It originated in France. Unfortunately, here, dogs are not allowed.

Construction work for the Forest Adventure facility was carried out on the trees in the Waterside Plaza where the "Ryu no Seseragi" is located, so the Waterside Plaza was closed to the public until July 13th.

After the construction work there was completed, we were able to enter the "Ryu no Seseragi".

① We’ve arrived at the park. The management building is closed for renovation.

② I am on the grass area next to the parking lot. Now, we’ll look for the "Ryu no Seseragi".

③ I can see the "Ryu no Seseragi" at the bottom of the stairs. I don’t like stairs, so I’ll go down the slope that is not in the photo. The platform-like structure attached to the trees is called "Forest Adventure".

④ I went down the slope and found myself at the "Ryu no Seseragi".

⑤ I am by the pond. Now, we’ll head upstream.

⑥ This is a panel about the Ryu no Seseragi.

⑦ This is a maze-shaped waterway.

⑧ I'm in front of the maze-shaped waterway. We’ll head further upstream.

⑨ We've reached the dragon fountain at the very top.

⑩ I'm in front of the dragon fountain.

⑪ This is a photo Dad took from a different angle. Now, we’ll head back downstream.

⑫ The waterfront is shallow, so children can enter the waterway.

⑬ A small waterfall joins the waterway along the way.

⑭ In some places the waterway widens to form ponds.

⑮ We've returned to the maze waterway. We can also see Forest Adventure.

⑯ There are some mysterious number tags.

⑰ We’ll head downstream along the narrow waterway.

⑱ We’ve returned to the pond at the very bottom. The pond is deep, so entry is prohibited.

⑲ We’ll make a U-turn in front of the no entry sign and return up the slope.

⑳ We’ve returned to the grass area.
The "Ryu no Seseragi" facility was bigger than I expected, and I was very pleased.
