In chapter 298, I introduced the cherry blossoms at Kanoen (観桜苑) in Sanuma Regional Park(砂沼広域公園). Inside Kanoen, there is a 2,000m2 iris garden (aquatic plant zone) that makes use of the natural topography of Sanuma, a reservoir. It's iris season, so we went to see the iris garden.
Sanuma Regional Park is divided into the east and west banks of Sanuma. The Kanoen, where the iris garden is, is located in the park on the east bank.
Sanuma is crossed by the 395m-long Sanuma Ohashi Bridge, which is a Y-shaped bridge that splits into two in the middle, connecting the parks on the east and west banks.
In the central area of the bridge stands a bronze statue "Hishou (flight, 飛翔)," the symbol of the park, and there is a recording of songs like "Sanuma nocturn," which sings of the atmosphere of Shimotsuma City where the park is, or the children's song "Furusato" .
There are hydrangeas on the approximately 3km promenade along the west bank of Sanuma.
The hydrangeas are not in full bloom yet, but since we came all the way, we crossed Sanuma Ohashi Bridge and took a quick look at the hydrangeas.
