“Well, you invented it, Doc!”
茶トラ先生が発明した機械だよ

“But you fixed it!”
だが修理はお前さんがやった

So I went to the back of the Machine
それでぼくがマシンの裏側を見ると

to find a burnt plastic cover.
プラスティックのカバーが焦げていた

Then I removed the cover and found a fuse,
それでカバーを外しヒューズを見ると

which seemed to be blown as before.
前のように切れていた

I told Doc and he fetched a new fuse.
ぼくがそう言うと、茶トラ先生は新しいヒューズを持ってきた

So I asked,
それでぼくは言った

“How many amps?”
何アンペア？

“Thirty.”
３０アンペアだ

“It’s too small.
小さすぎるよ

It should be fifty
５０アンペアにしようよ

since we are going fifty years into the future!”
５０年後の未来へ行くのだから

“Well, you still talk big to a great physicist!”
お前さんは偉大な物理学者をつかまえて、またでかいこと言うなぁ

“I’m tired of hearing the same stories so often!
その話は百万回聞いた！

And apart from a great physicist or not,
とにかく茶トラ先生が、偉大な物理学者かどうかはさておいてさぁ

it should be fifty.
５０アンペアだよ

We should have some safety margin!”
何事にも余裕ってもんが必要なんだ！

“OK. I understand.
わかったわかった

You are a great physicist too.”
お前さんも偉大な物理学者だ

Saying so,
そう言うと

Doc grabbed a fuse rated fifty amps
茶トラ先生は５０アンペアのヒューズをつかみ

and put it in the fuse box.
ヒューズボックスに入れた

Then the Machine operated quite normally once again.
するとマシンは再び正常に動き出した

So we got in the Machine
それでマシンに入り

and Doc set the date and time again
また日時をセットし

and pushed the start button.
スタートボタンを押した

At this time,
今度は

the Machine seemed to operate quite normally at first.
マシンは全く正常に動いているかに見えた

But when we looked at the mirror in the Machine,
だけどぼくらがマシンの鏡を見ると

we found we were becoming older and older
ぼくらはどんどん歳を取っているようだった

just as though
それはあたかも

the Time Machine and the Age Machine
タイムマシンとエイジマシンが

were synchronized!
シンクロしているように！

“Oh my god!”
何たること！

Doc shouted.
茶トラ先生は叫んだ

“Something is still wrong!”
まだ何かがおかしい！

“What do you mean?”
どういうこと？

“Time and Age is synchronized now.
タイムとエイジがシンクロしておる

So when we reach fifty years in the future!
だからわしらが５０年後の未来に着いたとき

we will be fifty years older!"
わしらは５０歳歳をとっておることになる

“Wow! You will be one hundred and fifteen! Oh my god!”
それじゃ、茶トラ先生は１１５歳じゃん 　やばいよ！
