妹がやってきた

It was the voice of my sister, Arisa.
それは妹の亜里沙の声だった

Then I looked back.
それでぼくは振り返った

She was quite old.
妹も結構な歳

She must have been sixty three.
きっと６３歳

“You didn’t come at the appointed time.
お兄ちゃんが約束の時間に来なかったから

So I thought you might be here.”
きっとここだろうと思って

“Doc has been reduced to ashes!”
茶トラ先生、骨になっちゃった！

I said while crying.
ぼくは涙声で言った

“Time and Age were synchronized…”
タイムマシンとエイジマシンがシンクロしてしまったんだ！

“Synchronized?
シンクロ？

“Yes.”
うん

“Well, I guess you are… sixty seven.”
じゃ、お兄ちゃん、６７歳？

“Perhaps yes.”
多分ね

“Then Doc must be far more than one hundred years!
だったら茶トラ先生は１００歳以上？

So he became ashes.
だから骨に…

Well, the Time Machine and the Age Machine are synchronized…”
つまりタイムマシンとエイジマシンが、シンクロしちゃったから…

“What should we do?”
どうしたらいいと思う？

“Well, we should collect the ashes.
そうね、先生の骨を集めようか

I’ll bring a bag.”
袋、持ってくる

Then she went to her car and returned with an “Orange Mall” shopping bag.
それから妹は車へ行き、そして「オレンジモール」のショッピングバッグを持ってきた

“I’m so sorry this was the only bag I had.
この袋しかなかったの

Anyhow, let’s collect the ashes and put them into it.”
とにかく骨を集めて袋に入れましょ

So we collected the ashes on the floor of the Machine
それでぼくらはマシンの床に散らばった、茶トラ先生の骨を集め

then put them into the bag.
その袋に入れた

“So what should we do?”
これからどうするの？

Then I asked.
ぼくは妹にたずねた

“Well, let’s go to the hospital.
ともかく病院へ行こうよ

And put Doc’s ashes on the back seat.”
茶トラ先生の骨は後ろの席に置きましょう

Then we got in the car.
それからぼくらは妹の車に乗った

In the future,
未来では

there is no steering wheel in the car,
車にはハンドルはない

only a touch panel on which a map was displayed.
そこには地図が表示されるタッチパネルがあった

Then she touched the hospital on the map
妹は地図にある大学病院を触れ

and the car started silently.
それから車は静かに走り出した


“A cure has been found.”
薬、完成したのよ

Soon she said.
それからすぐに妹は言った

“And there is someone I want you to see.”
それから、お兄ちゃんに会わせたい人がいるの
