そしてぼくはソンブレロを飛ばし、デビルに駆け寄った

それでぼくは大声で彼の名を呼び、言った

A truck is coming!
トラックが来てるんだぞ！

立つんだ！

and immediately stood up.

So I led him by the hand to the sidewalk.

トラックが横断歩道上に止まった

The driver shouted, “You damned fool!”
運転手のバカヤロウ！という声

どうしておれ、横断歩道に寝転んでいたんだ？

A truck was coming.
トラックが来てたじゃねえか

I called Devil ‘Toshio’
ぼくはデビルを利夫君と呼んだ

and that is his name.
それは彼の名前
