その日

I was a sophomore in high school
ぼくは高校二年生だった

when I met Doc.
先生に出会ったとき


And it was an early summer day.
そしてそれは初夏のある日のこと

I was sweating profusely
ぼくは大汗をかいていた

as I was climbing a slope on my bike.
自転車で坂を登りながら

I was doing so
ぼくがそんなことやってたのは

because of my classmate that I call ‘Devil’.
同級生の「デビル」のせいだ

Of course he is not a devil.
もちろんやつはデビル（化け物）じゃない

He is a homo sapiens
奴は一応人類で

and has a real human name.
一人前に人間らしい名前も持っている

But I didn’t care to know names
だけど名前を知ったってしょうもない

of such a guy
あんなやつの

at that time.
そのときはそう思っていた


Well, this is what happened
そしてこれが起こったこと

that eventful day.
いろんな事のあったあの日に

I was riding on my brand new 3-speed bike.
ぼくは、ばりばり新品の三段変速の自転車に乗っていた

And I’d been riding it around proudly
それを自慢げに乗り回していた

until I came across ‘Devil’ near Rabbit Park.
ウサギの公園近くでデビルに出くわすまではね

Then, as soon as Devil spotted me on my new bike,
で、デビルは自転車に乗ったぼくを見つけると

he had to have a ride on it.
それに乗りたかったみたい

So he shouted “Lemme ride it!”
それでデビルは「乗せろよ！」と言って

and he took it off me.
ぼくから自転車を取り上げた

Then he rode off with it.
それからそれに乗ってどこかへ行っちゃった

This means that my bike was hijacked!
つまりぼくは自転車をハイジャックされたんだ！
