茶トラ先生との出会い１

He was in the garden
そのとき先生は庭にいた

wearing a shabby white robe
よれよれの白衣姿で

and seemed to be doinga scientific experiment.
何かの科学実験をやっているみたいだった


And he noticed me
そしてぼくに気付き

standing there hopelessly,
（そのぼくは）絶望的な顔をして立ち尽くしていて

so he came out from the garden
それで先生が庭から出てきて

and glanced at my bike and me
ぼくと自転車をちらりと見てから

and said somewhat joyfully,
そして何だか嬉しそうにこう言った

“Wow, your bike is totally broken!”
わ～お！　お前さんの自転車は完璧ににイカれとるな！

Then he went to drag my bike into the garden.
それで自転車を庭へ引きずりこもうとしたけれど

But when he glanced at the dog poop on the front wheel,
だけど前輪に付いた犬の糞を見つけ

he returned to the garden,
庭に戻り

then took something looks like a fire extinguisher, and said
消火器みたいなのを盛ってきて、そして言った

“This chemical solution can sterilize any kind of bacteria or viruses”
この薬液はどんな細菌もウイルスも消毒できるんだ

and washed the front wheel perfectly,
それから前輪をカンペキに洗浄して

then he took my bike into the garden
それからぼくの自転車を庭に持って行き

and fixed it almost in an instant
一瞬にして直しちゃった

using many kinds of tools
いろんな道具を使って

most of which I’ve never seen.
それはぼくの見たことのないものばかり


Also, he ‘remodeled’
それから魔改造してくれた

the gearbox of my bike
自転車のギアを

from a three speed to a eight!
３段から８段変速に


With the gearbox fixed,
魔改造後のギアで

I could climb slopes very easily
坂道もへいちゃらで

and go faster on flat roads.
平地ではスピードも出せた


Anyhow, I was really astonished
とにかくぼくは、ほんとうにぶったまげた

and thought that he must really be a very very amazing person!
先生は豪快に驚くべき人だと思った


Then Doc said,
で、茶トラ先生は

“You must repay me for my favor.”
今度はわしの好意に恩返しをしてもらうぞ 、といって

and he told me to work as an assistant for his experiment.
