The runway seemed to be about 400 feet long and 60 feet wide,

which was too small for real aircraft.
実機には小さすぎる

So we thought it must be the airstrip for R.C. aircraft.
それでラジコン飛行場に違いないと思った

In the Apron near the runway
滑走路の脇の駐機場では

there were several aircrafts
数機の飛行機が置いてあった

that were much smaller than real aircrafts
実機よりずっと小さい

i.e. R.C. aircrafts.
すなわちラジコン飛行機

And beyond the apron
そして駐機場の向こうには

was a small hut,
小さな小屋があった

which we thought to be a toilet
それはきっとトイレ

and beyond the toilet
そしてトイレの向こうには

was a building
ビルがあった

probably the company building.
多分会社のビル

We could see what was going on in details
そこで何があっているか良く見えた

because Doc had two binoculars.
茶トラ先生は双眼鏡を二つ持っていたから

“Well, I guess the demo flight will start soon.” Doc said.
わしが思うに、間もなくデモフライトが始まるだろう、と、茶トラ先生は言った

In fact, various people
実際多くの人々が

were gathering at the apron.
駐機場に集まった

And Doc said,
それで茶トラ先生は言った

“Your father will perform the autopilot flight.
お前さんの親父さんが、ここで自動操縦装置によるフライトを披露するのだろう

And if it is successful,
そしてそれが上手くいけば

they will succeed in the business meeting.”
契約交渉に成功するだろう

“Then they will go to the Chinese restaurant ‘Flying Squid’.”
そしたらお父さんたち、中華料理屋「飛びイカ」へ行くよね

“Of course they will.”
もちろんそうだろう

“And in the end, my father will
そして最後にお父さんは

lie sprawled out on a crossing
交差点で道路に大の字に寝転ぶよ

shouting, ‘I’ve done it!!’”
やったぞ！　なんて言いながら

“Certainly. And the truck will…”
そのとおり　そしてトラックが

“Oh my god!”
