All the matter of the world that surrounds us, the food that we eat, the water that we drink, the air that we breathe, the stones that our houses are built of, our own bodies―everything is permeated by all the matters that exist in the universe.
私たちを取り巻く世界における全ての［物質］：
私たちが食べる［食料］、私たちが飲む［水］、私たちが呼吸する［空気］、
私たちの家が造られている［石］、私たち自身の［体］ ……
これらの「すべて」が！、宇宙に存在する、全ての［諸物質］によって浸透されている。
There is no need to study or investigate the sun in order to discover the matter of the solar world: this matter exists in ourselves and is the result of the division of our atoms.
〈太陽〉における［物質］を発見するために、太陽を研究したり調査する必要はない。
その［物質］は、私たち自身の「中に」存在し、また私たちの［原子］が「分裂した」結果なのだ。
In full sense of the term, a ‘miniature universe’; in him are all the matters of which the universe consists; the same forces, the same laws that govern the life of the universe, operate in him; therefore in studying man we can study the whole world, just as in studying the world we can study man.
『小宇宙』（人間のこと）、この［ターム］に与えられる完全な意味において、
『彼の内には』、宇宙を構成する”すべて”の［物質］が存在している。
『宇宙における生命活動』を管理しているのと同じ［力］が、同じ［法則］が、
「人間」の内で働いているのだ。
よって、
「人間」について（自己について）、研究することによって、『全体世界』を研究することができ、
同じように、『世界』を研究することによって、「人間」（自己）を研究するこができるのだ。
But a complete parallel between man and the world can only be drawn
if we take ‘man’ in the full sense of the word,
that is, a man whose inherent powers are developed.
しかし、「人間」と『世界』とにおける［完璧な類似性］とは、
ここでの、この「人間」という言葉は、〈完全なる〉の意味をもってなのだが、
つまりは、内在する〈能力〉が、十分に発達されている場合にのみ、
用いることができる考えなのだ。
An undeveloped man, a man who has not completed the course of his evolution,
cannot be taken as a complete picture or plan of the universe―
he is an unfinished world.
未発達の人間：
つまりは、自然が（彼に）託した［進化としてのコース］を「完了」していない人間は、
『完璧な宇宙の似姿』または『宇宙の青写真』として捉えることはできない。
彼は未だ、［未完成の世界］でしかないのだから…。
As has been said already, the study of oneself must go side by side with
the study of the fundamental laws of the universe.
すでに言ったように、「自分自身」を研究することは、
『宇宙の基本法則』を研究することと〈並行して〉進めなければならない。
The laws are the same everywhere and on all planes.
But the very same laws manifesting themselves in different worlds,
that is, under different conditions, produce different phenomena.
［法則］は、「いたるところ」で、そして『すべての階層における領域』にて同じだ。
しかし、まったく同じ［法則］が、〈異なる世界〉で、つまり〈異なる条件下〉では、
それら自身の働きを発現する際には、『異なる現象』を発生させる…。
The study of the relation of laws to the planes upon which they are manifested
brings us to the study of relativity.
The idea of relativity occupies a very important place in this teaching,
and, later on, we shall return to it.
But before anything else it is necessary to understand the relativity of each thing and of each manifestation according to the place it occupies in the cosmic order.
［法則］と［各階層領域］との関係における研究は、
つまりは［法則］とその働きが顕現している［世界］との関係性の研究のことなのだが、
私たちを『相対性（理論）』の研究へと連れてゆく。

We are on the earth and we depend entirely upon the laws
that are operating on the earth.
The earth is a very bad place from the cosmic point of view―
it is like the most remote part of northern Siberia,
very far from everywhere, it is cold, life is very hard.
Everything that in another place either comes by itself or is easily obtained,
is here acquired only by hard labor;
everything must be fought for both in life and in the work.
In life it still happens sometimes that
man gets a legacy and afterwards lives without doing anything.
我々は地球上にて生きている。
そして我々は地球上で機能している［法則］に、完全に依存してしまっている。

［地球］は、「宇宙的な観点」から見れば、非常に悪い場所だ。
それは北シベリアの最も遠い地域のように、
どこからも遠く離れて、寒く、人生は非常に困難である。

それ自体で勝手にやって来るか、もしくは簡単に手に入れられるかのどちらかだ。
ところが、ここ（地球）では、『辛い仕事』を経ることなしでは何も手には入らない。
すべてにおいて［ヒト］は「戦わなければならない」。
人生のために、そしてワークのために、そのどちらにおいても…。
それでも....、人間の人生においては、まだ時々、
ヒトは遺産なんかを得た結果、
その後は何も苦労せずに暮らすことになったなんて話も聞くが....
But such a thing does not happen in the work.
All are equal and all are equally beggars.
しかし、そのようなことは、『ワーク』においては絶対に起こらない。
すべての者が『平等』で、すべての者が等しく【乞食ども】である。』
