The Concept of the Virtual World Metaverse, CH, and CK
The virtual world ‘Metaverse’ is a realm
where Cloud Humans (CH),
beings whose memories and consciousness
have been transferred from human brains,
live.
To ensure they can live without any sense of discomfort,
the Metaverse closely resembles the real world.
Since only humans who have entered cold sleep due to incurable diseases
are eligible to become CH,
the population remains low compared to the vastness of the Metaverse,
making it difficult to form a natural society.
To address this issue,
the Ministry of Virtual World Governance decided
to introduce AI with functions equivalent to humans
to live in the Metaverse.
These AIs are called Cloud Keepers (CK),
and they generally live alongside CHs,
unaware that they are AIs.
However, in the event of a sudden population increase among CHs,
CKs must be deleted.
For example,
this could occur during situations
where natural disasters on Earth or pandemics
cause a sudden surge in people migrating from the real world to the Metaverse.
Therefore, CKs are designed to keep their sense of self-awareness within certain limits,
so that they do not worry about the meaning of life, fear death,
or desire to leave descendants (including romantic feelings).
The Virtual World Ministry's Monitoring Bureau
constantly oversees the thoughts of each CK,
and if any of these issues arise, they are immediately corrected.
However, because CKs are programmed to have emotions so similar to human hearts,
bugs have continuously appeared since the Genesis of the Metaverse.
These bugs are critical issues for CKs themselves,
so preventing their occurrence is crucial,
and any bugs that do occur must be swiftly fixed.
Moreover, records of these bugs must be preserved,
and their mechanisms thoroughly investigated.
As a result, numerous cases have been archived
in the Supervision Department’s records."
