小諸、悪くないかも、というのがタカミの第一印象だった。
山が雄大で空が広い。空気が澄み、水がきれい。何より、毎日天気がよくて景色が色鮮やかだ。
日中はカラッと晴れてジリジリ暑いのに、朝晩はひんやりして気持ちがよかった。
ふたりは毎日、不動産屋に連れられ物件を見た。
恐ろしく荒れている築70〜80年の古民家か、築30年ぐらいのつまらない中古住宅か。
「今日見た家はどれもいいよね、タカミ」
なんでもいいから買いたい。そんな欲望をイツキは丸出しにする。買い物は彼の趣味だ。
「シンカワさん、とてつもなく古い物件ってあるの？」
返事をしないタカミは無視である。テキパキとした対応ぶりから、どうやら辣腕らしい女性社長のシンカワさんはハンドルを握ったまま言った。
「ありますよ、天保だったかな、建てられたのは」
「いいなそれ。見ていいでしょ、タカミ？」
車が止まったのは、タイムスリップしたような古民家の前。崩れそうなショーウインドウに「貸店舗」の黄ばんだ紙が貼ってある。
「ねぇ、ここよさそうじゃない！」
はじめてタカミが弾んだ声を出した。

The mountains are magnificent and the sky is open. The air is clear and the water is clean. Above all, the weather is fine every day and the scenery is colorful.

"Shinkawa-san, do you have any incredibly old property?"
Itsuki ignored Takami who keeps silence and asked Ms. Shinkawa instead, who seemed to be shrewd company president, handles her business efficiently. She answered as she gripped the steering wheel.
”Yes, there is. It was built in Tenpo period, I think".
"That's sounds nice. Can we see it, Takami?"
The car stopped in front of an old house that looked like it had been transported back in time, with a yellowish paper sign "store for rent" taped to its crumbling show window.
"Hey, this place looks good!"
Takami's happy voice was sounded for the first time.
